This steel wall, covered with crosses on the Mexican side, is the wall the U.S. government has erected in an attempt to keep out the flood of migrants from the south. Each cross has the name of a person who has died in the attempt to cross to the U.S. in search of a job and money to send back home. Many crosses simply say “Unknown.” This section of the wall is in front of a well known and excellent restaurant in Nogales, Sonora, frequented by American tourists.
